Biography
Dr. Muhammad Asif, was born in Gojra, Punjab, Pakistan. He obtained his PhD degree in Electro-Analytical Chemistry from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Wuhan, China in 2017. From Dec 2017-Nov 2020, he worked as a Postdoc in School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Huazhong University of Science & Technology (HUST) China. Currently, he is working as a Postdoc Fellow in School of Materials Science and Engineering, Wuhan Institute of Technology, Wuhan, China. He is the author, co-author of more than 53 peer-reviewed publications in reputed journals like BB, AC, CEJ, ACS-AMI, Nanoscale, SNB, and Advances in colloid and interface science, with cumulative Impact Factor of 364 and citations over 1200. His current research interests include the design of functional 2D electrocatalysts including LDH, MXene, and Graphene for electrochemical bio(sensors), analytical, environmental and diagnostic applications.
Research Interest
We are working on Fabrication of nanomaterials like Layered double hydroxide (LDH), metal oxides/hydroxides, CNTs, Graphene, MXene and bacterial induced corrosion engineering to convert damages into benefits, with diverse morphologies, such as Nanospheres, Core-shell structures and their Superlattice assemblies to boost electrical conductivity and overall electrochemical performance. We develop these rationally designed nanostructures for electrochemical (bio)sensor application to detect H2O2 as cancer biomarker, dopamine as Parkinson diseases diagnosis, uric acid, and ascorbic acid. These nanostructures are also used in H2S detection as marker for sulfate reducing bacteria detection, nitrate sensing as nitrite oxidizing bacteria detection and sensing of some environmental pollutants such as bisphenol A, resorcinol, catechol and hydroquinone. We explore electrode materials, relationship among materials, their structures and electrochemical performance.
